Atelier Monier

Seat carpentry workshop

Founded in 2013, Atelier Monier specializes in the creation, design, and manufacture of seating. A Meilleur Ouvrier de France (Best Craftsman of France) and Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living Heritage Company), Louis Monier uses software to design the shapes and architecture of the pieces, which are then turned into prototypes using a 3D printer. The wood can then be worked by hand using the techniques and tools of a chair maker.

Artémis

Artémis is the winning piece in the first edition of the Etrillard Foundation's Âmes d'Œuvres competition.

This chair offers a reinterpretation of the Bergère du débotté, made around 1775 and attributed to Georges Jacob. Its name refers to the ancient goddess of hunting and fertility, protector of the wilderness.

Made of solid pear wood, covered in places with lacquered canvas by Atelier Maury, it evokes the plant world through its green colour and the choice of fruit wood. With its lines reminiscent of deer antlers, it plays on the relationship between form and ornamentation.

Artémis is a reinvention that is both spirited and humble in relation to the Bergère du débotté. Echoing the mission of the Etrillard Foundation, it is resolutely contemporary and innovative, while remaining in line with the tradition of 18th-century craftsmanship.
