Gwilen

Innovative marine material and low carbon

Gwilen transforms marine sediments into building materials through an innovative process, inspired by diagenesis and which does not require high temperature cooking. With the aim of developing new alternatives to traditional and more environmentally friendly building materials, this Brestian society works on two fundamental aspects:

- the resource already available, the harbour sediments

- energy, thanks to a process without high temperature cooking that saves energy and limits CO2 emissions

Marine sediment

This marine sediment, obtained from port dredging, is converted by the Brest-based company Gwilen into a low-carbon construction material. Inspired by the natural process of diagenesis, it is composed entirely of minerals, devoid of cement or resin, and is well-suited for the creation of customized and sustainable projects that harmonize technical performance with environmental stewardship.
