Laboratoire SIMBA de l'UFR de Tours

Synthesis and isolation of BioActive Molecules

The research themes developed within the Simba team focus on the development of bioactive molecules for cancerology and infectious disease. A first fundamental axis is the development of new pathways to these molecules by synthesis or isolation from natural resources. The second axis applied is the biological evaluation of molecules synthesized or isolated in the laboratory (anti-cancer, anthelminthic, antifungal, antibacterial).

MYTILUS MATERIA (BYSSUS)

hors-studio presents samples of flexible materials based on byssus, combining know-how from textile design and ennoblement: vegetable dyeing, silkscreening and flocking. These translucent byssus materials are available in cold tones of light, exploring applications in climate design, where decorative materials become a lever for the thermal regulation of spaces.

- collagen samples extracted from the mould byssus

- soft biomaterial sample, vegetable dye (cochenille), silkscreen printing, dyed byssus flaking.
