Laboratoire SIMBA de l'UFR de Tours

Synthesis and isolation of BioActive Molecules

The research themes developed within the Simba team focus on the development of bioactive molecules for cancerology and infectious disease. A first fundamental axis is the development of new pathways to these molecules by synthesis or isolation from natural resources. The second axis applied is the biological evaluation of molecules synthesized or isolated in the laboratory (anti-cancer, anthelminthic, antifungal, antibacterial).

MYTILUS MATERIA (BYSSUS)

Samples of flexible materials crafted from byssus, integrating expertise in textile design and finishing techniques such as plant-based dyeing, screen printing, and flocking. Showcased as luminous objects in cool hues, these translucent materials introduce innovative applications in climate design, where decoration serves as a mechanism for temperature regulation within spaces.

- collagen samples extracted from the mould byssus

- soft biomaterial sample, vegetable dye (cochenille), silkscreen printing, dyed byssus flaking.
