Manufactures nationales

A unique public hub for the excellence of crafts and decorative arts.

A public hub unique in the world, the Manufactures nationales have been working for the decorative arts for 400 years.

Since 1740, the Manufacture de Sèvres has affirmed its vocation, both heritage and experimental in the ceramic arts.

The Atelier de Recherche et de Création (ARC) of the Mobilier national, created in 1964 by André Malraux, produces furniture sets based on drawings by contemporary designers.

The Laboratory of Sustainable Practices of the National Manufacturing Research and Innovation Directorate places art and design in a dynamic of research, innovation and eco-responsibility. It is supported by the Bettencourt Schueller Foundation.

AI-Crafts - Generative prototype

Since 1740, the Manufacture de Sèvres has affirmed its heritage and experimental vocation. A high-invoice creative laboratory, she is an important player in the art scene, design and decorative arts. It draws its strength from the excellence of its artisans and pasta, colours and enamels: unique know-how at the service of guest artists.

The visitor shapes a raw volume: the camera captures it, then a general AI, trained on the collection of Ruhlmann vases from the Manufacture de Sèvres, the interpreter in plausible formal proposals for a vase in this collection. A generic prototyping to explore credible assumptions, already informed by the excellence of Sèvres' know-how.

In-Flexions, a duo formed by François Brument and Sonia Laugier, creates interactive devices and parametric objects. A pioneer of digital design in France, their works are featured at FNAC, Centre Pompidou, SFMoMA and MAD. In 2015, they founded Les Arts Codés and conducted their "Digital Crafts" research, hybridizing design, crafts and technology.
