Artist - Sculptor
Samuel Latour is a sculptor based in Rabastens, near Toulouse, where he lives and works. A graduate of École Boulle in Paris, he specialized in art shooting, especially on wood and bronze. He then enriched his practice by collaborating with designers, artisans and artists in workshops and art foundries.
The COLLISION series is founded on a protocol that connects graphic intention with three-dimensional creation.Utilizing illustrations from his sketchbook, Samuel Latour carves wood on a lathe through the technique of eccentric turning.It examines the repetition, variation, and arrangement of patterns within the specified confines of the cylinder.
