Sophie Manessiez

Ceramicist

A Franco-Canadian artist, Sophie Manessiez lives and works in Quebec. Trained in visual arts and communication, she began her career in the event before turning fully to ceramics in 2007. She was trained over the years in various workshops in France and Quebec, and in 2021 obtained a degree in ceramic art techniques in Montreal.

Chronolithique II

The artist intricately intertwines a poignant conversation between substance and recollection. By layering 420 stoneware and porcelain pellets vertically, she reconstructs a fictional geological core, serving as both an archive of time and a metaphor for contemporary identity. This work examines the imprints and relationships we create within the tapestry of existence. Suspended by a thread.
